Add this to another station Career-Op: Firing the client - from the archives (2.84MB; download) -- Those of you who have already made the jump into freelance or project-based work have discovered the pros and cons of working for yourself. While there can be a certain lack of security involved with managing your own business there can also be a large feeling of freedom. Freedom to choose your projects. Freedom to organize your day the way you want. Freedom to pick your clients. Unfortunately, we can sometimes still put ourselves in the position of working for someone who is less than ideal. Sometimes we do it because of the money. Sometimes we do it because we think we need the work. Sometimes we might not realize why we are doing it. Regardless of the cause, though, it is important to learn how to identify these clients and how to extricate yourself from a bad relationship without making it worse. Add this to another station The Gadget Show #6 (15.09MB; download) -- I've been reading Wired Magazine for over 10 years, and Boing Boing for the last few. So it makes sense that I'm a fan of Xeni Jardin's work. She's heavily involved in both. When I asked if she'd be so kind as to be on the show, she enthusiastically agreed, and while storms lashed LA (again), Xeni suggested that people were hunkered down with their soy milk and manicurists, and I interviewed her while the mercury soared to 42 degree C (107 degrees Fahrenheit) in Perth. Thanks for the chat Xeni, it was great fun! ========================================== The Gadget Show #6 - 29th March 2005 (43min 43sec): MP3 - 15.1MB TIME 00:00 Network Intro 01:05 ...

So this week, we're looking at that mobile gaming space, from the big players, to the new entrants, and the little people (and yes,we're still on that TGV ride...) ***************************** The Mobiles Show #005 - 30th March 2005 (01hr 00min 01sec): MP3 - 20.7MB 00:00 The Mobiles Show #5 Introduction 00:25 Ewan and Rafe: Ewan never got to join the Mafia - overview of the mobile gaming space. 06:12 ...

Add this to another station Episode 16: MACUL 2 -- 03-26-05 (11.29MB; download) -- We're back at the MACUL conference to talk with some educators. The bottom line is that the teachers and education leaders recognize that the only way to prepare children for a rapidly changing world is if teachers are able to adapt to change and do it with insight, purpose, reflection, and a lot of information. I tell two stories in this podcast, one from Seymour Pappert that most educators have probably already heard. But, since many of my listeners are not classroom teachers, but parents and other community members, I want to bring home the point that although much has happened in the last decades and the last century, how we define the job of teaching has not. I also tell a personal story at the end, but just give it a listen. Podcast Links Play in Browser Download (Right Click)
