Add this to another station The Scourge of the Plastic Water Bottle (0.96MB; download) -- By Linda Bramble The latest urban legend to which I admit I fell prey was the warning that flew through the internet in seconds, about the dangers of drinking water from previously frozen water bottles. The claim was that dioxins from the plastic were unleased causing cancer, especially breast cancer. Rolf Halden an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health calls the claim ridiculous. “Freezing actually works against the release of chemicals,”says Halden. Don’t stop drinking water. Says Halden: “It’s far more likely that you’ll suffer from dehydration than from minuscule amounts of contaminants leached from plastic water bottles.”
